♫ It is very important to choose an instrument that physically suits your child. There are certain physical characteristics that make playing some instruments more difficult and others easier. We want each child to have the greatest chance of success.
♫ We will attempt to balance each musical group. Playing in an orchestra or band that has a balanced number of the individual instruments is a great deal more enjoyable than playing in one that has too many of one instrument and not enough of another.
♫ Help your child keep an open mind in exploring your choices and have several possibilities in mind. Every child should choose an instrument that interests him; however, it has been our experience that there are several instruments that would be enjoyable for each person.
♫ My child is interested in sports. Are there conflicts with orchestra?
Orchestra students at Clint Small Middle School are also members of every athletic team and activity on our campus. Coaches, club sponsors, and the orchestra director work together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate in any program offered by the school.

Private Lesson Teachers
Private Lessons benefit every student!
The individual attention that a student receives in private instruction helps develop their unique maximum potential as a player and member of our orchestra. In addition, private instruction offers students the opportunity to explore the extensive wealth of solo literature available for their instrument. All of the world's greatest composers have written masterpieces for each of the string instruments, and private lessons give students the opportunity to explore and experience them. Private lessons also help a child prepare auditions for Region Orchestra or the Austin Youth Orchestra.
These private teachers are working toward the same goals of the orchestra program and understand how to motivate and teach your child to be able to reach their special talent on a string instrument. Please contact the private teacher of your choice for further details.
